Create another workspace
A second practice or entity, with its own clients, team and billing.
Last updated · Facts checked
A workspace holds one business's clients, requests, templates, team, branding and billing. If you run a second practice or a separate entity, create another workspace for it and switch between them from the sidebar, all with the same GarnerDocs account.
When to use a separate workspace
Create another workspace when the work needs to stay apart:
- Separate client lists: clients, requests, files and templates in one workspace never appear in another.
- A different team: each workspace has its own members, and you can have a different role in each.
- Different branding: the logo, brand colour and client-facing contact your clients see are set per workspace.
- Separate billing: each workspace has its own plan and invoices.
If you only want to group clients or split work between colleagues, one workspace is usually enough: assign requests to people instead. Assign a request
Steps
-
Open the workspace menu
Select the workspace name at the top of the sidebar (on wider screens).
-
Choose Create workspace
Select Create workspace at the bottom of the menu.
-
Name it
Enter the Workspace name, for example your practice's name. Your clients see it on their upload page and in the emails they get. You can rename it later in Settings → Workspace.
-
Create it
Select Create workspace. You're the owner, and you're taken straight to its Overview.
A new workspace starts like any other: the default reminder schedule, the starter templates and you as the client-facing contact. Confirm its file retention period before you send requests. Confirm your retention period
Switch between workspaces
Select the workspace name at the top of the sidebar, then choose a workspace under Workspaces. The one you're in has a tick. Everything you see, from the Overview to Settings, then belongs to that workspace until you switch again.
Good to know
- You can own up to 10 workspaces. Workspaces you've joined as an admin or member don't count. Contact support if you need more.
- If you're not part of any workspace, for example after yours was deleted, GarnerDocs asks you to create one when you sign in.
- To hand a workspace to someone else, see Transfer ownership of a workspace.
