Send a note with your documents
Send a message with your documents, and who reads it.
Last updated · Facts checked
Use the Have a question or note? box at the bottom of your upload page to send a message to the business that sent you the link.
What notes are for
- Saying a document will follow later, for example "One statement will come next week."
- Explaining a file, such as why a page looks different.
- Asking a question about what they need.
Steps
-
Open your link
Scroll to the bottom of the page, to Have a question or note?
-
Write your note
Type your message in the box. You can write up to 2,000 characters.
-
Send it
Select Send message. You'll see "Thanks, your note was sent to" and the person's name.
Who sees it
Under the box, the page says who your note goes to: "Sent to", a name and the business's name. Their team sees it with your documents and gets it by email. Nobody else can read it.
Good to know
- Send as many notes as you like, with or without uploading anything.
- You can't edit or delete a note once it's sent.
- Notes don't stay on the upload page after you send them, and replies don't appear there. They'll answer by email or phone.
- If a note is too long, you'll see "Keep your note under 2,000 characters."
