Our take
If you want your firm's workflow, billing and client requests in one place, Financial Cents does more. If you only need documents in from clients, with reminders on every plan, GarnerDocs is simpler.

Each item is a document or a short answer, with a line telling your client what to send. Start from a template.

Invite your teamFinancial Cents is workflow and practice management for accounting, bookkeeping and tax firms. It tracks your team's work with workflows and to-do lists, and adds client requests, a client portal, a CRM, time tracking, invoicing, proposals and e-signatures.
GarnerDocs does one part of that job. You send a client a checklist of the documents you need, reminders chase what's missing, and you review what arrives. It doesn't track your team's own work or bill your clients.
If you want your firm's workflow and client requests in one place, Financial Cents is built for that. If collecting documents is the part that hurts, GarnerDocs is the smaller tool for it.
The two are closer here than most. Neither asks your client for a password.
In Financial Cents, your client follows the button in your email, asks for a verification code, and enters the code it emails them, which lasts up to 30 days. Inside the portal they upload files, comment on tasks and chat with you.
In GarnerDocs, the link itself opens the request. Your client sees a checklist of the documents you asked for and can upload some today and the rest next week, from a phone or a computer. You can add a 6-digit PIN that you give your client yourself. See what your clients see.
Automatic reminders differ. Financial Cents' auto follow-ups, by email and SMS, come with the Scale plan and above. GarnerDocs reminders, by email, come on every plan, list only what's still missing, and stop once it arrives.
Financial Cents' pricing page on 21 October 2026, in USD: Solo $19 a month for one user, billed annually; Team $49 and Scale $69 per user a month billed annually, or $69 and $89 billed monthly for five users or more. All plans are a 12-month agreement, with a 14-day free trial and no credit card.
GarnerDocs is priced per firm, not per user. It's billed monthly or yearly in USD, and a year costs ten months. Starter is $39 a month ($390 a year) for 20 active requests and one team member. Growth is $99 for 100, and Pro is $199 for 300, both with no limit on team members.
For a firm of one, Financial Cents' Solo plan costs less than Starter and covers more of the practice, though its automatic reminders need Scale. For a team, compare the per-user total with the number of requests you have open at once.
If several of these matter to you, Financial Cents is likely the better choice.
There's nothing to import. Let open client tasks finish in Financial Cents, and send new document requests from GarnerDocs.
List the documents from each client task list as a template. Facts that fit on one line can be short answers.
One at a time, or from a spreadsheet.
Create a request for each client and send it. The reminders take it from there.
For a list to start from, see the monthly bookkeeping document checklist. Every new workspace starts with a 14-day free trial. See pricing.
In Financial Cents, your client follows the button in your email and enters a code it emails them, which lasts up to 30 days. In GarnerDocs, the link itself opens the request; you can add a PIN that you give your client yourself.
Only if document collection is all you use it for. GarnerDocs has no workflow for your team's own work, time tracking, invoicing, proposals or e-signatures. If you rely on those, keep Financial Cents.
GarnerDocs deletes a completed request's files when your retention period of 30, 90, 180 or 365 days ends, after emailing you 14 and 3 days before. Financial Cents doesn't state a schedule for client files publicly; it says deleted records are removed for good within six months.
